About us
A quiet patch of bush, kept for wildlife.
Pinehaven began as a simple idea: give native animals a calm, natural home, and give people a gentle way to meet them.
Our story
Pinehaven Koala Sanctuary grew from a small stand of gum trees and a love of the animals that shelter in them. Over the years it has become a home for koalas, kangaroos, wombats and dozens of other native species — each with space to behave as they would in the wild, and keepers who know them by name.
We're a place for slow mornings and curious questions. You won't find rides or crowds here, just shaded trails, unhurried keeper talks, and time to watch wildlife being wildlife.
How we care for our animals
Animal welfare comes before everything else. Our habitats are designed around each species' natural behaviour, our keepers lead daily health checks and enrichment, and every encounter is arranged at a pace that keeps the animals calm and comfortable. When we say viewing is from the boardwalk, that's the animals' wellbeing talking.
Our guiding question for anything new: does it make life better for the animals in our care? If the answer isn't a clear yes, we don't do it.
Conservation & education
Beyond our gates, we support the bushland habitats these animals depend on and share what we learn with schools and visitors. Every ticket helps fund the daily care of our residents and the ongoing work of looking after the land around us.
Plan a visit
We're open every day of the year. Have a look at the day's talks and feedings, check admission, or get in touch if you're planning a group or school trip.
